Dearness Allowance: Government employees of various states including Arunachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have reason to rejoice as they expect a welcome increase in their monthly salaries. The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced a 4% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners, effective from January 1. The decision is expected to benefit 33,200 pensioners as well as a total of 68,818 employees, bringing in an additional Rs 124.20 crore annually into the state economy.
State Chief Minister’s Cupport to Increase Dearness Allowance:
The announcement follows a similar move by the Uttar Pradesh government, which has increased DA by 4% for its employees and pensioners. This increase takes DA in Uttar Pradesh to 50%, providing a financial boost to about 28 lakh beneficiaries. Notably, the increased DA in Uttar Pradesh will be applicable from January 2024, in line with the central government’s decision to increase DA rates by 4%, which was approved during the Union Cabinet meeting on February 7.

State Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed her support for the decision and called it a step towards fulfilling the government’s commitment towards the welfare of the citizens.
