Free LPG Gas: The Yogi government has announced a significant initiative to brighten the lives of women across the state. The initiative includes distribution of free LPG gas cylinders to women, ensuring that they can celebrate the festival of colors with added joy and convenience.
This generous move by the government is set to directly impact the lives of 1.75 crore people across the state, particularly benefiting women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and their families. This initiative builds upon the government’s previous efforts, including the provision of free cylinders to women during Diwali.
Under the widely acclaimed Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the Yogi government has set aside a substantial budget of Rs 2312 crore for the financial year 2023-24 to provide 2 free cylinder refills to an estimated 1.75 crore beneficiaries in the state.
Since its launch, the scheme has achieved remarkable success, with a total of 1.31 crore cylinder refills already delivered to the beneficiaries. During the first phase of the scheme, which coincided with Diwali festivities, more than 80.30 lakh beneficiaries received free cylinder refills. Building on this momentum, the government has now extended its generosity on the occasion of Holi, with an additional 50.87 lakh beneficiaries receiving cylinder refills from January 2024.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during the launch of the scheme, underlined the government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens by immediately transferring the subsidy amount to the accounts of Ujjwala beneficiaries.
This initiative not only underlines the government’s dedication to improving the lives of women, but also highlights its proactive approach towards ensuring energy security and promoting clean cooking practices across the state.
