The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has issued an important notification for FASTag users highlighting the need to complete the Know Your Customer (KYC) formalities by January 31st. The decision is aimed at enhancing the overall experience of FASTag users under the ‘One FASTag per Vehicle’ initiative.
According to NHAI, FASTag that does not complete the KYC formalities after the January 31 deadline will face deactivation or blacklisting. This is part of the effort to simplify the use of one FASTag per vehicle and discourage the use of multiple FASTags per vehicle.
NHAI has emphasized the importance of completing KYC as non-completion of KYC will lead to invalidation of FASTag, thereby inconveniencing those who still opt for the traditional cash mode of payment and making them pay double toll tax. The deadline for completion of KYC has been set at January 31, 2024.

NHAI has clearly warned against using more than one FASTag for a vehicle and emphasized that every vehicle should have a dedicated FASTag.Any deviation from this guideline will result in blacklisting of accounts using multiple FASTags.
In order to comply with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, NHAI reiterated that FASTag with incomplete KYC will face deactivation. Currently, the utilization of FASTag has reached an impressive 98% with more than 800,000 people benefiting from the electronic toll payment system.
We urge FASTag users to take immediate action to ensure their KYC profiles are complete to avoid the inconvenience of deactivation and potential duplicate toll payment issues.NHAI’s goal is to effectively implement the One Vehicle, One FASTag program by January 31st, and we encourage users to adhere to this deadline in order to maintain seamless functionality of their FASTag.
